How To Hide Your Secrets Safely?

Contrary to the popular belief, encryption is not the best course of action if you were to protect your confidential data — far from it! Go ahead, and try to protect that important data with the strongest encryption that you can possibly find; but — by all means — keep in mind that if somebody finds out somehow that you have encrypted some data, that data will be compromised without a question!

However, if you are very — repeat, very — serious about protecting your personal data, then we can fully assure you that we have a far better idea for you to consider. You see, a more reliable method to hide your important data from any prying eyes would be to make the data, well, invisible. As simple as that!

If you would go back in history — many centuries ago, if you do not mind — invisibility was a method of choice that was used by special services, secret agents, and spies — just to name a few. Special phrases in telephone conversations, marks on post cards, and announcements in the newspapers could be used for transferring any confidential information imperceptible to detect.

So, simply said, if you are at all serious about your protected data to be where you think it would be safe — when you wanted it — without getting compromised at all, then you just have to use our BDV DataHider. There is nothing in the market that is as simple to use as our BDV DataHider is.

You may create Secret Storage in any file. The file itself will have the same properties as before (except for the size): it can be opened and copied without any restrictions. But if you will start BDV DataHider and provide correct password, you will be able to open Secret Storage in this file as usual folder and add or extract files easily.

In the same way you can use BDV DataHider to create Secret Storage on disks. For example, you may create Secret Storage on a removable flash drive and hide plenty of folders and files in it. But no changes will be visible in a disk structure, therefore it will be impossible to find or delete hidden data in a usual ways.

How To Hide Files On a USB Flash Drive

If you want to hide some data on a flash drive, the best way is to create Disk Secret Storage on it.

Start BDV DataHider and select appropriate drive. Usually USB flash drives are formatted to FAT or FAT32 (rarely NTFS), all these file systems are supported.

Click "You can create Secret Storage on this disk" link in Info Panel on a left side of window. Create Secret Storage window will appear. Type there password and remember it, then press OK button.

New Secret Storage will be created. You will see it as empty folder currently opened in a file list. Use Add button on a Main Toolbar to add files and folders into this storage.

After finishing, press Apply button on a Main Toolbar to save all your changes or Cancel — nothing will be changed then.

Secret Storage on a disk cannot be discovered in a usual ways, deleted, overwritten by mistake or corrupted by disk usage. Hidden data can be accessed only by using DBV DataHider and providing correct password.

How To Hide Files On a Local Drive

If you want to hide some data on your local drive, the best way is to create Disk Secret Storage on it. You can create Secret Storage on NTFS, FAT and FAT32 partition. Use the same way as described in a previous section.

How To Prepare Files For Invisible Transfer

If you want to transfer some secret data over Internet or in other way, it is good idea to create Secret Storage in some regular file (image, Word document, ZIP archive etc.).

In a File List find and select file in which you want to create Secret Storage. Click "You can create Secret Storage in this file" link in Info Panel on a left side of window, or press New button on a Main Toolbar. Create Secret Storage window will appear. Type there password and remember it, then press OK button.

New Secret Storage will be created. You will see it as empty folder currently opened in a file list. Use Add button on a Main Toolbar to add files and folders into this storage.

After finishing, press Apply button on a Main Toolbar to save all your changes or Cancel — nothing will be changed then.

The size of file containing Secret Storage will be increased by size of data hidden in it. Except for this, file will have all the same properties and abilities: it can be opened, copied and used as before. Hidden data will be invisible and can be accessed only by using DBV DataHider and providing correct password. But if file-container will be changed, Secret Storage may be destroyed.
